“I help diverse talent, teams, and organizations create exciting futures.”

FLAVIA MOREIRA

Director, Global DEI Lenovo and Certified Coach

WHAT DOES ADVOCACY MEAN TO YOU?

"I'm so lucky to have the ability to do that in my full time job as Director of Global DEI at Lenovo and as a professional coach.”

”My mission in life is to facilitate growth and help talent, teams, and organizations create exciting futures. And volunteering is a way I find to achieve that.”

”With Lenovo, I’ve been engaged with the activities supported through our ERGs and I also coach and mentor students from historically excluded groups pro bono every time I can."

HOW WOULD YOU DESCRIBE YOUR PERSPECTIVE?

"I'm an optimist. I always see the bright side of things and expect the best. I also enjoy visioning amazing scenarios for the future."

CAN YOU SHARE AN INSPIRATIONAL QUOTE OR IMAGE THAT SPEAKS TO YOU?

"And so, she decided to start living the life she'd imagined."

“Always be yourself. Everyone else is already taken. The world needs your uniqueness."

WHAT ACCOMPLISHMENT ARE YOU MOST PROUD OF?

"The accomplishment I'm most proud is my son!"

"I've done great things in my career and my personal life, but nothing compares to the magic of being a mom! He's my life!"

WHAT'S A STRUGGLE THAT YOU'VE OVERCOME?

"Deciding to permanently relocate to the US was a big challenge."

"It was exactly what I wanted and worked hard for, but I had to learn to compromise and think long term."

WHAT'S SOMETHING YOU'RE WORKING ON THAT'S IN PROGRESS?

"I'm still learning how to have two full time jobs: one as a HR leader and another one as a mom of a 8-month-old boy. I'm discovering my new identity and learning how to balance everything."

WHAT'S YOUR DAY-TO-DAY MANTRA?

"I love The Four Agreements by Don Miguel Ruiz with Janet Mills. I never read the book (lol), but the agreements are spot on: 1. Be impeccable with you word; 2. Don't take anything personally; 3. Don't make assumptions; 4. Always do your best. They help ground me and take a step back from reacting on auto-pilot to choosing to own and lead my interactions."

WHAT'S SOMETHING YOU'VE RATED 5-STARS

"DEI Beyond Lip Service by La'Wana Harris. I don't know how many DEI books I've read in the past couple of years, but this one was by far the best. Very practical and grounded in coaching principles."

CAN YOU SHARE A PERSONAL OR PROFESSIONAL GOAL?

"I'd love to become a university professor and researcher in the US. Education has been my strategy to build the life that I've dreamed of and I've always enjoyed learning and teaching in Brazil."
