Dr. Sarah Egan Warren has 25+ years of experience developing curriculum and delivering presentations, training, and instruction in undergraduate, graduate, and industry settings.

A teacher at heart

Sarah combines her experiences in academia and industry to contribute to training programs, instructional videos, certification modules, presentations, workshops, conferences, e-learning projects, and more.

Ph.D in Educational Leadership, Policy, and Human Development

She has a bachelor’s in English from James Madison University, and she completed two graduate degrees at NC State University: a master’s in Technical Communication and a PhD in Educational Leadership, Policy, and Human Development: Adult, Workforce, and Continuing Professional Education. Currently, she is on the faculty at the Institute for Advanced Analytics where she has developed the technical communication curriculum and teaches ethical storytelling with data.

An experienced public speaker

Outside of her university experiences, Sarah has worked with numerous companies on best practices for professional and technical communication, presentations, and online teaching.

She delivers presentations, workshops, and seminars and is a TEDx alum.

A pioneer in online education

While working for the English Department at North Carolina State University, she created and delivered the department’s first online offering of professional communication courses. She then taught other faculty to teach online.

Building off this experience, she also developed and taught a hybrid professional communication course for William Peace University. Recently, she led her Institute's efforts to pivot from in-person learning to online learning during the pandemic.

Global educator and program developer

In 2010, she was awarded a study abroad grant to create a new study abroad program aimed at encouraging engineering students to participate in study abroad. She created a faculty- led summer study abroad program in London that incorporated a rigorous writing and speaking curriculum while using London as part of the classroom. Students toured companies, factories, and job sites where they interviewed London engineers about communication in the workplace.

After two iterations, Sarah expanded her study abroad program by adding an additional instructor and course. Creating and leading the study abroad program is one of Sarah’s personal and professional highlights.
